    85 gs700 swingarm swap

    Can I switch my 85 gs 700 swing arm with a swingarm from a 93 gsxr 750

    #2
I take it you mean the 16V GS700? but either way the GSXR swing arm will fit but you need to make up some top hats as the swing arm spindle on the GS is smaller

Yes you can. This is one from a '93 1100. Same style arm only the 1100 is slightly longer. Had to grind a very small amount off the frame at the pivot.

You can use the inner bearing races from the 700's swingarm in the gsxr arm, the outer dia. on them is the same on both.

I must add in the fact that it is a ton of work to do it, you have to remove the frame bosses the footpegs bolt to and fab up new ones. Mine has pegs (w/rear master cylinder shift lever assy etc) from a '90-'93 cbr600 honda. And no passenger pegs.

do you think you might be able to post a picture of the clutch side of the bike so I can go to see how you arrange the foot peg

What kind of fabrication did you do to the frame bosses
