    Jay, are those grinding marks on the backing plate? Was it installed in another basket before? Looks like a lot of countersink in the rivet holes is what makes me think that. Maybe it's just the way the picture looks.

        Maybe true, but some people like to do things right...

            Are those washers at the ends of the green springs?

                Just looks like the end of the spring, where it tapers off.
                1981 GS 1100e turbo, 83 motor, turbo pistons, new head, new turbo, backed and welded clutch basket, Dyna S ignition, cbr 929 front end, gsxr 750 rear end with 190 tire, all carbon fiber covered bodywork.

                        Hi Storm the rivet squishing (non technical term by the way ha ha 0 is something MTC did and never welded them (at least some of there's) also rivets are designed to be set flattened and never are welded on aircraft and trucks and so on, Just because someone does it doesn't mean its the right way, Just because you read it somewhere doesn't make it the wright way ,,Loads of wrong info on the net , Later Mike

                          The MTC rivets are pressed to expand them. You need a press capable of crushing the rivets & I don't have one that big so I will continue welding them. I have NEVER had a failure or an issue with welding the rivets. Either way works, no wrong with either method.

                            I built a 50 Ton Press, squishes the sh.. out of empty Beer Cans Might Good.
