    Aftermarket tach ratio

    Has anyone used an aftermarket tack on the 16v engine GS? A friend wants to know what ratio he should choose, 1:4, 1:5 or 1:7? He has a 16v 750 engine in a 77 750 frame. That's all the info I have, but can ask for more info if needed. Thanks in advance.

    aftermarket mechanical tach? Aren't most electronics in which case they read direct RPM off the coils.

    I guess they exist. This one claims to work for my GS1100ED so I'm guessing it might work for his. Use the model selector to check for compatability

    53.5mm depth - Not including tach drive connection. 50mm bolt center to gauge center mounting bracket. We are global. We pride ourselves in taking our own product photos so you know exactly what you are getting.

      I'm not sure where he's getting one from, but I did mention Dime City Cycles and their mechanical tach come in 1:2, 1:4, 1:5 and 1:7 ratios.

      Looks like the 1:7 ratio is designed for early small cc bikes, like early 70s CB450 and 550s and similar.
      1:4 may be the ticket, ad says for 750cc and larger and the one I'm looking at is made for the CB750.
      1:5 tach ad says it designed for Kawasaki and Yamahas.
      1:2 doesn't specify any cc or make. Must be for Hardleys.

        1 : 4 is the common one for Suzukis. 1 : 2 is sometimes found on older British stuff.
