New Cylinder head nearly ready
I thought it might be of interest to show some pics of my new motor as it comes together. Im building a unfaired gsx1100efe prostock bike for this season, based on a Kosman chassis i had. Im using EFE cases, 5 speed robinson trans, falicon crank, MTC gen 2 clutch, which is all pretty usual stuff. top end is a little rarer, in europe we can use the billet 'Monster'16v head that Mitch Brown makes. so we are using his new complete top end, billet block and head, 89mm MTC pistons should be fun! the head is at Star racing being assembled and having the inlets opened up for the 50mm lectrons.Tags: None

ray, it worked out the same as a new 2v top end from freedom or ward. Also a big factor was the hope of better reliabilty of the 16v compared to the full on 2 v set ups. I see a lot of broken vhr/vortex stuff . Im running a 66.4mm stroke crank for starters. it came with the chassis i bought and is new, so that can get me started. the big stroke ones also seem to be more fragile than the std or near std stroke set ups.

yes Jay..how are doing? I thought i'd have a last go at PSB over here before i got TOOO old! I've been aquiring prts, chassis etc for a year or so and went with Mitch and georges and jackies top end after a lot of thought. Hope to get over to a man cup meet this year so see you there probably. it would be nice if ian can get the puma over in november! cheers nick

Thanks for Pics Nick. That looks like a Proper Head! I had a Question the Material its made from. Is it ?? type aluminumn? 6061 (That's the cheapest and gummy to machine but can be welded) ) or 7075 a proper Aircraft type but cant be welded) ? I imagine the 2024 type (withstands heat well without as much strength Loss) may of been used? I'm just wondering. (“The billet aluminum that we’ve machined them from is an aircraft proprietary alloy and is about 10 times stronger than your standard cylinder head,” Brown said. Its an Interesting Product, Add a V and H crank some billet cases and there's some serious Toy Money Gone,,, Good Luck With New Engine this year at the Track!!!!! Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for the good wishes! I last raced seriously back in 2002, so it will be a steep learning curve for sure. Mitch tells me the head is made for 6061 T651 aluminium. Billet cases are not needed for prostock, also the weight is an issue, not such a problem for the funnybike guys. Im running a falicon crank rather than a VHR item. falicon seem to be turning out some good stuff again after a few years in the wilderness.hope to get out testing in april. as soon as i get the head over i'll take some more detail pics. cheers nick
