GS 1150 ES 13 tooth front sprocket?

Im thinking about swapping the stock 15 tooth front sprocket for a 13 tooth. I have a new 630 chain on it and 42 tooth rear sprocket.

-but started thinking if the chain would be rubbing the swingarm/ slider - anyone tried this? thanks

I don't know about the rubbing business but I do know moving two teeth in the front is a huge change in the gearing. The bike will rocket off the line but will buzz quite a bit at freeway speeds.

Keep in mind that any time you make the sprocket smaller it makes the bend the chain has to make tighter, this is what increases chain wear. Also, I have NEVER found a need to go less than 14 teeth on a front, & prefer using 15 & gearing the rear accordingly. Each tooth you go up or down on the front is fairly equivalent to going down or up 3 teeth on the rear sprocket. Most of my drag bikes are in the range of 15/47 or 15/48.

Thanks I see the point in the chain being bent more than might be good for chainwear. Maybe 45 on the rear would be better and a bit more sensible for the street (havent really seen other than 41 or 42 rear up for sale here in europe but must be out there somewhere..)

i have an aluminum rear but i need to count the teeth....it's several more than stock.
14/15/16 is all ok on an 1150...a 13 is just bad news...

Thanks! I can get a 14 tooth cheap and easy on ebay here in europe -so I might go with that since a bigger than stock rear sprocket seems hard to find and more expensive... Thanks for the advise on the 13 tooth being no good/ too small for the 1150
