Cartridge Emulator adapter for 37mm Forks

A few people have these fitted as a budget option to Racetechs. I have a set fitted using an adapter in the 83/1100 forks on my skunk. Work great and should work in all of the 37mm forks (GS1000, GS850, GS1100, newer GS750 etc). A few bodies in Canada also have them fitted.

Color/Finish: Gold Material: Steel Fits: Yamaha XS650 1977-1984 OEM Ref: 1T3-23170-00-00 Note: Damper rod drilling required

I have the option to get some more of the adapters made up, want another set myself. Cheaper in bulk. Cost will be in the $35 range plus some postage. These ones will be made of an engineering Nylon (considering we use ABS pipe as a spacer in our forks Nylon will work fine).

Let me know if anyone is interested. I'll run a separate thread if/when I have them on hand, I just want to know if there is any forum demand. Racetech's are about $150 so it will be a decent saving. For me to do it I'll need commitment for a minimum of about 15. There is a volume of scale too.

I'd be in for a set of adapters. My fork springs are tired so a set of emulators coupled with a set of Sonic springs would be just what the doctor ordered. And this is the cheapest option for emulators I have seen.

Put me down for at least one set. If I install them and like them, I will go for two more.

I just wanted to make it clear that you'll need to buy the MikesXS emulators direct from them. Figure total cost of the upgrade will be in the region of $100.

For those that don't know - These allow you to split the two damping circuits on your fork - Rebound & Compression. You then adjust the rebound using oil weight & use the emulator to adjust compression damping to suit.

With the 83/1100 forks the rebound adjusters stay active after upgrade so you get a fork adjustable for preload, rebound & compression (without changing oil or spacers). You do need to disable anti-dive on the 83 forks.

If it wasn't for the exchange rate killing it, I would be wanting a set, too. As it sits, I can get an aluminum set machined up locally for almost exactly the same money...

Are you printing the extra bits in nylon?

Not Printed parts these are precision CNC machined. I'd be somewhat worried about a printed part as the bottom does rest on the top of the damper rod. The only reason I am using Engineering Nylon instead of Brass or Aluminium is cost (and weight but not really concerned about that).

It is a buddy I know from the shooting range I used to belong to. He is a machinist and does work on the side at home on a couple of small machines.
