"OR driveshaft case rear portion ..." What about the driveshaft case rear portion?
"OR whole "thing"?" What 'whole thing'?

I, for one, can not understand what you are asking about these various parts.

Sorry about your wife yapping, but you might get a better answer (and quicker) if you at least asked a proper question (or four).

    .
My question was regarding the quote by Big T, specifically this:
...All the G models have a wear issue with the splines in the rear wheel. ...

Wanted clarification on the "splines of rear WHEEL" part as well as advice regarding other driveshaft parts which wear/fail rapidly.

So I'm not off topic too much here's a pic:

Would have made much more sense if you had only included that part of the quote when you asked the question.

First of all, I will have to question BigT's statement about ALL the G models having wear issues with the spline. It was only the late '82 and '83 models that had wear issues. That was corrected with a new spline material and there are no more issues. As long as you keep them lubed with some moly grease, there is no reason to experience any wear issues with your spline.

As to the rest of your question, the wear was only the splines in the rear wheel, not the driveshaft or the final drive.

I talked him out of turboing it. mainly cause I dint want to see a chunk of the crank or something fly through his leg and I have to sit there and hold his blood in lol we'll revisit this subject later but for now I'm getting ready to start a build thread on the 1000 although it wont be a lengthy one

Thanks for letting me borrow some information off your thread here.
Finished post would get "Awesomes, me likey" s...

For me I have to really LOVE a vehicle, then "make love to it" (purely greasy, tiresome mechanical sense w/ sweat and some blood), repeatedly and put up with a bunch of let-downs while being persistant...Don't think I could work on someone else's project or one I don't "love" or need.

Hope to see post about the 1000.
By the way,Only turbo I've driven was a 1982 mercedes turbo diesel a best buddy loaned me for few months.
(He got it for a biodiesel planned but lost interest)...
It'd be a good motor for a boat or houseboat, IMO.
Funny thing, chicks seemed to dig even the old mercedes and it hurt to give it back.
That's exactly what he told me though was "I just don't loove it enough [to do the restoration work on it], gonna get a newer more powerful one" (He did too).

Thankyou very much for the reply. I've been checking a few sources of used but decent shape parts.
They thin out, and I'm constantly trying to check what might be useful. Keep wondering about driveshaft parts. Don't want to waste $ and no space to store much.

You would have to track the source of that thread to see where they found the pump gears.

                  Correct.

The "85" in the XN85 was the reported horsepower figure.

A stock 650 had 72 or 73 HP, the turbo version had a whopping 85.

For all the complexity and weight, it was not much of a performance upgrade.
