Anyone have forward control?

I have a gs1000G, its an 80, it has the vetter fairings, highway bars, highway pegs, on it. I'm hoping someone on here may have a template, or even an idea how, to put forward controls on my highway bars.

I have seen that question posed before, but have never seen a positive answer in response.

This is not exactly an appropriate sub forum to post that kind of question!
Actually you would probably get a better response in just about any other sub forum other than this performance modification forum and the racing forum! no one reading this section of the GS Resources forums would likely be running forward controls ever, but instead, as Steve alluded to, putting on sport bike rear sets much further back than the stock controls!
Do you have crash bars with highway pegs on them already? Living in Lowell Ohio, unless you just cruise up Route 60 all the time, I would think that forward controls would be a bad thing for all the twisty roads around you. Much harder to control your bike properly in that riding position. Just my opinion there. If you rode substantially slower than I do, this is probably much less of an issue! It is a fast vintage bike substantially faster than a Harley Davidson of any sort however. It will handle the curves a lot better in the standard position than any of those put putter tractor sounding twins

Others have asked this question. Not my job to scold you or tell you how to mod your bike but I do recall seeing forward controls on a GS with floorboards.

I am not sure how the ergonomics of a G would work with this type arrangement so you might want to touch base with the guy who posted the pictures. If I had any desire to stretch my legs, would probably mount some case guards and put highway pegs on those but that is just me.

You already have the highway pegs for the 'change of leg position', do you really need to add the complexity of all the linkages, too?

Then again, will have to ask another question: will you be moving all your controls to the forward position or are you adding to the existing controls so you have both positions available?

I have (briefly) ridden a bike with the controls out front and found it to be rather awkward for every-day riding. I do enjoy the alternate position provided by highway pegs, but when the road conditions start requiring gear changes and braking, I prefer to have my feet under me, where I am used to having them.

I have a set of these that are incomplete. I've been searching for a pic of the other side to see what the shift linkage looks like. I haven't decided to use them yet as they would have to be rechromed or painted first, plus make or find the missing parts.
