    MY WINTER PROJECT

    My winter project is finished . A picture can be seen in the gallery under 1981 GS 750 Larry Taylor . I have had it to the track one time . The best E.T. was 6.36@ 117mph in the 1/8 mile. Im sure it will run in the 5.s with more riding time and some fine tuning

        Tell us about your engine, I also see a little blue bottle in there too.
        I may just have to get one myself.

        Hey that's not fair, I was looking at the wrong picture. That 750 is one mean looking ride.

        What was your 60ft and 330ft times??

          The gs 1100 with the blue bottle I sold it but the engine was 1168cc ,G3 cams, 36mm mikuni carbs, stock head. It went best of 6.90 @101 mph. I only had to the track two times. 60' was 1.55 and never used the NOS. The guy I sold it to said he went 6.65 no NOS. It might of went that quick because a guy at the track I go to has been 6.04 with the same engine combo. with a slick and bars
          The GS750 has an almost stock engine except a big block ,1394 ccs ,billit clutch basket and a turbo its going to take a little more work to get it to run a good 60' and 1/8 mile because of the lack of boost taking off best 60' has been 1.68. Best 1/8 has been 6.36. As for the use of a slick it will never happen this is a street bike, anyway a M.T. shoot-out tire is all you need. That tire has been 7.20s-30s @ 200mph on a street legal bike@ indy , ProStar in August. I will never have half the power those shoot out bike have
          The engine in the GS750 has been 1.17 60' , 5.17 @134 in a drag chassis. It makes 235 hp. This show i need to learn how to ride a no bar, turbo bike

                      You did a great job with it. Very nice looking. That's some good ETs for your first time out with it. I would be scared to death to ride something like this without a bar.

                      Are you running the old 300 series Rotomaster?

                      Also, I am curious why you mounted the boost guage on the side rather than on the bars where you could see it? Or, at least on the other side where the waste gate is, for tuning?

                        Lecroy the turbo is a 370 40 ef Rayjay . I mounted the gage there for tuning .I made a one way valve with a release to hold the pressure.there isnt any place good to mount the gage by the handle bar

                          Yep, it's the old RaJay Rotomaster. Just an FYI, if you ever take it apart you will notice that there are two oil feeds to each bearing. The oil feeds are drilled streight and release in the center of the bearing. I have had these fail and it can destroy the shaft. I worked with friend who designed the lubrication systems for some of the turbines at Williams Int. His comment about RaJay's design was that it did not control the flow of the oil across the shaft. Our bearing uses four oil feeds per half. The feeds are drilled at a tangent to the shaft and are angled. Two feeds point from the center to the outside and the other two point to the inside. Sorry for the paint brush drawing. Shows a single bearing.



                          I used this design for several years and never had another failure. Sorry that I never mass produced any or I would send one to you. I also tried to grind the shafts to get them to spin up a bit quicker with good results.

                            Lecroy I have never had a bearing failure in 15 years on my dragbike running @27lb boost . i have only replaced one bearing in a 25b rayjay 10 years ago@17 lb boost . The turbo on the GS 750 has about 100 passes on it when it was in the drag chassis Im lucky I guess I never had trouble on the dragbike getting boost quick because i used a two step .It would make 5-7 lb on the starting line That bearing looks like it would oil a lot better

                              Ahhhhh, Roto-Master. I worked there for 6 years as a packer/shipping clerk. Left in '84 for the job I have now. Not important, just thinking back to good times working there. I remember when they bought out Ray jay. I wonder if they're still in business. They left the S.F. valley years ago.
