How can I tell if rocker arms have been hard welded?
Is there a way to tell if a set of rocker arms have been hard welded? Also, will putting a "new" set of hard welded rockers on a used camshaft be fine? Also, I have read that hard welded rockers can actually eat up some camshafts depending on how hard the cam is. "Hot Cams" is the brand I read about having that problem. My cams are old Vance & Hines. Think that would be an issue? They are .340 lift. The rockers still look great but my head builder might be putting in heavier springs and I would hate for those to eat up my rockers. ThanksTags: None -

You will be fine .340 lift cams are very mild cams. I would install a set of APE valve springs and titanium retainers. Then have the spring pressure set a 45lbs.Comment

Also if you have hard weld cams then use hard weld rockers and you have billet cams use stock rockers.Comment
