    GS upgrade?

    Morning guys.
Is it possible to fit an 1127 (or 1200 B12) oil cooled head and barrels to an Aircooled GS1100 bottom end? Has anyone on GSR done it?
    GS750EC, GS1100E, GS1150EG, Harris Magnum 2 (GS1170E motor), GSXR750F, Mk1 GSF1200, and finally Mk1 GSF600.

I think Racing Jake has a similar setup. He hasn't posted in a while though.

When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

To expand a bit. If it's possible, I'd fit the bigger barrels, along with a 'Dot' 750 head, and RS 36's!

I think at that pint you should just do the entire 1127. I know of at least two active members that have st least one. Figure on a suspension upgrade while at it.

I'd rather stay with the GS bottom end. The motor is in a Harris frame, so suspension geometry is spot on to start with! To go with a full 1127 motor would entail using exhaust stub extensions, which don't look right, and the motor looks too small in the frame anyway. Whereas, the GS motor fills the frame perfectly.

Just send Rapid Ray your 1100 head for some serious porting work, cams, etc and a set of JE or CP pistons bored into it. No need to try and make something work that may require totally custom pistons (pin location/compression height, pin diameter, etc) and a lot of custom fixes to fit it together and make the gaskets all match up etc...
