    Upgrade rear sprocket & chain

I need a new chain, my father-in-law says i should look into changing the rear sprocket as well. where can i learn about this process? more teeth or less teeth? mostly ride around town, but love to hit the rural roads and highway speeds. Thanks in advance!

you should change both sprockets with the new chain. Im not sure of the GS 1000 was a 630 ptich chain but if so you may be able to go to 530 with little pain.

+1 to both. Always change the chain set as a group and converting to a 530 chain set is a great idea. The 630 chain looks like something off of farm equipment.
