    Gs1100e front sprocket cover

So, I have officially started my gs1100e build....and within the first hour, had a snap ring shoot across my shop into some black hole never to be seen again, and may have already made a ill thought out mistake. After removing the front sprocket cover, I saw that inside, the foam/insulation/cotton candy stuff (no idea what it is) was cracked and torn. So...I tore it all out into 7 million pieces. The aluminum under it is beautiful by the way. Is there a replacement piece of foam available that can be glued back in its place? With the heat buildup, and moving parts in there, I don't think spray foam would be a suitable replacement. Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Wow, I totally put this in the wrong section. Mods, if you could move to general maintenance I would be grateful.

I assume it's there for noise damping only (like the damper on the front sprocket itself that gets left out when using aftermarket sprockets). It's not critical, you can go without it....
