Are they leaking oil from the shaft seal? If not , maybe you can remove the springs and just buff up everything and paint them.1983 gs1100ed restro-mod. 1998 gsxr 1100 almost mint, 2019 kawasaki klx250, 2011 Beta 250 evo trials bike, 2017 Montesa 300rr trials bike, 2021 honda crf250rx woods weapon

Rebuild if need be.
Ok then - I’ll do that !
I don’t see any leaks but I don’t think they have cycled since they were built.
I can see the foam (wipers?) are disintegrated - not sure how important that is.1983 GS1100E

Cool factor as well as being good shocks.Originally posted by Grimly View PostGiven the price of new ones (even as Ikons as they are now), definitely worth rebuilding them.
thanks! I was thinking so myself but appreciate the feedback - I’ll post them up when done.1983 GS1100E

I lucked into a similar set of eye-to-eye Konis a few years ago. Got a rebuild kit, but could not remove the gland nut to install it, so I'm riding with them as-is. I have installed heavier springs, but otherwise all stock. I like them a lot.
