    1980 GS1000 parts on a 1977 GS750

    Hey folks,
I know a guy cleaning out some stock 1980 GS1000 parts. I have a 1977 GS750 and wondering if I can use anything he's getting rid of. Hoping to look over the parts this weekend. All parts are from a stock 1980 GS1000 unless otherwise stated.

    Full 4 into 2 exhaust
    Front fender
    Front and rear mag wheels
Rusty tank (I think the 1980 model uses a different petcock. Will this fit my GS750 or 78-79 GS1000?)
Front forks (These are 37mm vs 35mm on my GS750?? I think I'd have to replace head bearings to use these)
GS1100 swingarm (Are all GS1100 swingarms the same? I think I'd have to modify my GS750 frame to use this swingarm)

He has more stuff from the 1980 GS1000 and wondering if any thing here is rare or highly desired.

    Gauge cluster
    Airbox
    Handlebar
Front and rear caliper and master cylinders

Thanks in advance for any info!

All of the top list will fit, with a bit of modification. Easier to make some bushings for the swing arm bolt, which is smaller diameter, than mess with the frame

Nothing in the bottom list is rare, but there are always people looking for an airbox. Got both parts?

Yes, the gas tank has the dreaded 80 petcock

Thanks for the reply BigT. I'm thinking of getting the front forks and exhaust from the GS1000 and the GS1100 swingarm. I'll post some specific questions on how these work on the GS750.

To fit the forks you’d need to change the bearing to the more modern one and use the 1000 triples. You would probably want the gauge cluster to make figment easier. I think steerer stops will be something you’ll have to make work as well as ignition lock if you use it...
