There have been threads here about such a conversion. If you search I'm sure you can find them. There are photos too.Ed

Yes, it seems I've seen this somewhere. Some folks like the hydraulic clutch better, I've got 2 w/cables & 5 with hydraulic. Very little difference, but I'd kind'f rather have the cables.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100

Each has its advantages. Cable is easy to maintain and cheap to replace. Hydraulic is usually easy to maintain, almost never needs to be replaced, and can be sized to give a light pull on a set of monster springs.
That said, I have also seen a few posts here concerning conversion, I just don't remember how successful they were.

I have a Magura hymec kit on my Husky. From looking at it, quite simple to do on a GS too... It works well enough.
I have a 9.5mm master cylinder somewhere that I'd let go quite cheap if you wanted to try it out.... You'd have to see if that would give enough travel. On the Husky I had to go up to the 10.51980 GS1000G - Sold

This would be relatively easy on my 550 and on most suzukis that use a pushrod clutch.
Only real problem is matching up the master to look pretty
You can scour ebay to find one that is suzuki oem but it may not have the correct mounting angle for your bars.
I know Maduras used a identical design for brake and clutch but my bar angle is different so much so that taking the reservoir lid off would cause spillage
what bike are you looking at doing this to? You could xref parts using an onliune fiche and make a better ID using ebay pics
or go with an aftermarket master and slave
iirc the slaves of one of the 80s bikes lines up with the stubs my cable clutch mounts to so just a matter of drilling and spacers and possibly machining also maybe recasting the whole sprocket cover assembly
but once you get into a project money and time ceases to matter.
Im still looking for a wrecked or dead donor 650 savage so I can steal its final drive and go belted.Last edited by Cipher; 12-17-2021, 12:50 AM.1983 GS 550 LD

The hymec has a slave cylinder that attaches where the cable used to & pulls the lever arm in the same way so pretty easy on the other type too...
It's quite a clever design, it also has an extra bit that can attach at the back to fix it there, it's adjustable. That's what my husky has (but it's buried under the massive tank so I can't take a pic but heres' something...
