750 INTAKE CAMSHAFT IN A 1000

My Clymer book has a performance section , they sugget using a GS 750 intake camshaft in a GS 1000. It says it will provide more throttle response in the 6000-8000 rpm range . I was wondering if anyone has tried this setup and is it wothwhile ? I currently have my stock cams indexed at 106 degrees . This setup works o.k. but I would still like more performance . It was the easy mod to do years ago. You won't get a huge change, but if it is cheap may as well do it.

You might want to read that again. The edition I have (March 1980) Recommends changing the EXHAUST cam. Check p. 179 .
Also keep in mind that you will be moving the power peak higher in RPM.
Sounds like you have adjustable cam sprockets, so fine tuning would be no problem. Do you have access to a dyno? That would be the best way to check the results.

Terry, your right it is the exhuast camshaft . Thanks for the correction . I wish I had access to a Dyno it sure would make things easier on performance modifications. Joe
