    If I built a big bore 1150......

Lets say I built an engine with a 1230 kit + mild cams, port tidy up etc and all the usual mods with 36mm Roundslide carbs (VM's) and a good pipe, What power could I expect at the back wheel?

At the crank or at the rear wheel?

          Hey Robin,
We're talking about 130+hp at the wheel ofcourse, and more importantly HUGE torque levels. It's no use getting into this factory-nonsense in talking about crank horsepower. That's how people invent figures like 190 hp with ''ram-air'' on the new ZX10 when at the wheel (which is what you measure on a dyno and what matters) is ''only'' 160 hp.
Typically, a loss of about 15-20% is calculated between wheel and crank figures. So your Kat would have 115 hp at the crank with your current 100 hp dynosheet. By the way it also matters whether your dyno corrects to DIN or ANSI standards.

          Take care, Marco.

If you do an 1150 up with 1229cc piston kit, G4 cams, street port job, RS38 carbs, K&N Pods, V&h megaphone exhaust, Dyna S ignition, and Dyna Coils, you should put out about 150hp at the wheel. You may want to get the crank welded, put in HD Cyl Studs, and get a billet clutch basket for reliability, as well as a topend oiler, and 750 oil pump gears.

That's pretty much what my bike is, with a few extra doo dads for the strip. The biggest difference between what you listed, and what I have are the RS38 carbs, you may want to add these to your list as they make a big difference.

Looks like I wont be getting it now.

oh well, back to just the 1134 kitted Katana, Star Racing Street Sidewinder pipe, Mikuni 38mm Flatslides, Dyna pickup/dyna coils & webcams.

Im gonna sell the 38mm RS's ive had on it and stick with the stock NZ spec 36mm Roundslide VM's.

Not too worried about top end power  , just want good tire smoking low to mid power
