    Ikon Shocks Compliments

After the problems I had with my Race Tech springs and cartridge emulators and the resulting lack of customer support, I have to mention my experiences with buying a set of Ikon shocks for my 1100E. I tried several US dealers, but none of them would bring in a shock other than the ones they stocked for BMW or Triumph bikes. So I contacted Ikon direct in Australia, via their e-mail on the web site. I got a response the next day and they were very helpful and knowledgable.

I wanted shocks that were +1" in length over the stock ones and they had no problems mixing and matching components and building a custom length to my specifications. Any questions were answered promptly and in depth. They did the custom build in less than a week and it was in my hands in less than 2 weeks from the date of order. I can't complain about that at all. If only every company made that sort of effort to keep customers happy.

    There I feel better now...

Now if the snow would just go, I could pass on a ride report as well. Things are warming up, so maybe next weekend I will get out.

They certainly look good (much better than the el cheapo shocks that were on it when I bought it). I will know in a week or so how they work, as I got my new fork springs today and will be buttoning them up this weekend. If things go really well, I will get out on Sunday afternoon, but I doubt that will happen.

Prices were $480AUD for the standard build and $530AUD for the custom length build. That included 5 day air mail to my door. Total cost in Canadian $$ was $560. I could have got a set of Progressives for about $350-$375CDN, so this was close to $200CDN more. For that, I get adjustable rebound damping, a custom length and rebuildable shocks. Depends if the extra is worth it to you or not. YMMV

I forgot to mention that I got to pick the spring rate as well, from a selection of rates. Once I get a few miles on them, I will post a ride report.

        Thanks

I thought hard about them for my S.
But was leery about shipping and spring rates to the US.

        Now you've eases my mind.
I have 2 year old Progressives's, no complaints but would like
more adjustability and about an inch of ride height.
And the price isn't really too bad.

My Ikons have lasted for two years without any problems at all. I commute every day too. I recommend them. 8)

            Hey Guys,
Can you believe the Ikon's are resurrected Koni's? Koni is a Dutch company and they didn't want to produce these anymore (dumb #$%^'s), so the Aussies did. Top quality stuff, the ikons are an exact copy. Got a set of konis myself and they are just great.

            Good luck, Marco.

              Re: Ikon Shocks Compliments

I have a set of Ikons on my 1982 GS1100E and love them. Combined with Progressive fork springs, this bike finaly has some handling to match it's awsome power.

I purchased IKONS through Eurotech Motorsports, their US distributer. Geoff Proven (Ikon owner) was very helpful via email setting up the perfect combo of shock and spring rate for my riding style and weight. Once we got the setup, Eurotech ordered them up and I hade them from Australia in a couple of days.

Very sastisfied with the product and both companies.
