cberkeley, What voltage do you have your r/r putting out?
My Stator leads (insulation) are quite brittle though I recon they are the originals, some 23-years old. If I end up with a problem this is where it's going to be not the R/R. Don't panic, I have no intention of getting you folk to build your own stators:-D
Ok you're right the SCR's and bridges may be a little challenging especially to solder as the sheer mass of the things sink away quite a bit of heat.... persevere with a good soldering iron, these beasts can tolerate some heat. Reallythough the aluminum work maybe the most miserable.
Just found on the drawing of the suggested heatsink, the dimension for the LED hole (location of adjust hole relative to LED hole) does not coinside with what's suggested in the perfboard layout, Just a minor thing, will change that in the dwg tomorrow. Just be aware of it, or use two longer leads to mount the LED.

Greg ordered the parts yesterday (for both of us), and we'll be receiving them late next week ... Soooo the goal is to try and get together next weekend and knock them both out, after which we'll let you guys know what the charge will be for pre-assembled examples of Cletus' creation.
As I mentioned before, we won't be building these things for anyone that hasn't already bought the plans from Cletus (we'll wait for his verification before each "build"), and there will of course be a nominal assembly charge to make it worth our while ... but it will be very reasonable for those who don't want to build it themselves.

Thanks for the update. I have every intention purchasing Cletus' plans and building this thing myself, but I am interested in field reports; especially the ease of acquiring the necessary parts and any other issues to watch out for along the way. Greg is always meticulous about these things and usually makes a thorough post if called upon.
