Ouch. Those brakes are pricey. Yeah, I’m sure I’ll be happy with the 4 pot Nissin then 🤣

Made some good progress. I wet sanded the primer earlier in the week. Got it nice and smooth! Ready for paint.

Midnight blue pearl. I added a little blue flake to the clear coat as well.

It’s quite sunny in this picture. You’ll notice at some angles, it appears almost black.

I do have the decals. But first, I’m going to let the clear coat cure and then wet sand. After that, I will apply the decal, wait for a day, and then more clear coat.

And under the LED shop lighting.

I’m happy with how the paint turned out so far. A little bit of dust in there but what do you expect from a backyard paint job. All of that can be wet sanded out anyways.

Got the Bandit 1200 front end fitted up. Easy “bolt on.”

Now I need to figure out steering stops, ignition cylinder, and gauge cluster mounts.

The Bandit swingarm is getting worked on right now by my fab guy. He’s cutting the original mono shock mount off. I’ve also just received the swingarm conversion kit from Suzuki-katana.com.

Pictures in post 16 look almost OEM, dark & drab looking, pictures in post Featured Forums look way better, a lot prettier blue, not near as dank looking. # 17 looks really good...Just my opinion...Congrats. (edited later) Hey wait, how did that Featured Forums thing get in there, I certainly didn't type it in??? I've never seen that before...What the heck is going on???

Thanks! I think the color difference is because of the lighting. In post #16, that’s at my shop which has the lights 20 feet above but in post #17, the lights are like 3 feet above haha.

Applied the decals and then laid down the final coats of clear coat. I had to buy a second set of decals because I screwed up placement on the gas tank.

The small shiny “dots” you see is the flake I put into the paint.

The paint turned out awesome. Especially considering that this was my paint booth

And now to let this clear coat cure and then more wet sand and buffing to make perfect.

Put the painted parts back on.

                  Before.

Looks good to me! Way better than before. It’s not perfect but you wouldn’t notice any imperfections unless you get really close up. I can say that I’m proud of this DIY paint job.

Indeed, you should be proud of that paint work!

A small thing but i do like the look of those headlight brackets.
Have you got some info on them?

If mine looked like your after picture instead of your before picture, I wouldn't be so embarrassed while riding it. That paint looks really great compared to the OEM. Don't take this wrong, it's only my opinion. I don't like your black front wheel. No contrast, can't tell where the wheel stops & tire starts...Congrats on a great job.

Thanks! The ones pictured are these in 43mm.

Unfortunately, the clamps get too close to the gas tank for my liking. So I’m trying these.

I did think that there is a lot of black going on. The Bandit wheels mostly come in black color so that’s how they were. I think silver wheels might look nice but I’ve already mounted new tires so that’s gonna wait.

I actually like the all black wheels. You could put a blue pinstripe around the rim edge to add a splash of color and to separate them a bit.

Rear end is almost done. Just need to weld on the shock mounts.

Gonna get a chain and rear sprocket ordered up!

Nicely made parts. The front sprocket is offset as well. 17T
