1979 GS1000L, 23 years neglected.
Last plate date 2000, not seized up,good spark. Removed 1 bowl it was clean. I must have drain them ? Gassed up carbs, no leaks and, it runs ! Tank is almost ready. I could not get the pictures any larger. Good start I think, need a new voltmeter, no head light , blinker's or tail light. Gauge light's and indicator's work !Tags: None

Decisions, electrical harness, trust the one I have ? ( Only because of age ) It looks to be in very good shape, is there an option of buying a new one ? ( Think I read that someone was making a one size fits all harness ? May not have been in this forum. ) Or just replace all the connector's ? Regulator bad and, want to upgrade it and the ignition ! Is there an upgrade for the AC generator ? I'm searching for choices and, what to stay away from ! ty Murf

Use the harness. If you want electronic ignition, get a Dyna S. Points are perfectly serviceable, though, as long as you do the maintenance.
For the charging system, get a combined rectifier/regular unit. The Shindengen SH775 is hands down the best choice. And rewire the charging system. Do some research on this topic, including how to tell the difference between a real SH775, and a fake. They are easy to tell apart.Ed
