    1979 GS1000L, 23 years neglected.

Last plate date 2000, not seized up,good spark. Removed 1 bowl it was clean. I must have drain them ? Gassed up carbs, no leaks and, it runs ! Tank is almost ready. I could not get the pictures any larger. Good start I think, need a new voltmeter, no head light , blinker's or tail light. Gauge light's and indicator's work !

You've already got a great start, just needs a bit more attention. big probability brakes will need attention, flush system just for starters.

Sorry, meant to say, free up pedal just for starters, then flush system.

Decisions, electrical harness, trust the one I have ? ( Only because of age ) It looks to be in very good shape, is there an option of buying a new one ? ( Think I read that someone was making a one size fits all harness ? May not have been in this forum. ) Or just replace all the connector's ? Regulator bad and, want to upgrade it and the ignition ! Is there an upgrade for the AC generator ? I'm searching for choices and, what to stay away from ! ty Murf

Use the harness. If you want electronic ignition, get a Dyna S. Points are perfectly serviceable, though, as long as you do the maintenance.

For the charging system, get a combined rectifier/regular unit. The Shindengen SH775 is hands down the best choice. And rewire the charging system. Do some research on this topic, including how to tell the difference between a real SH775, and a fake. They are easy to tell apart.
