Sounds like fun! I'm dying to go somewhere, stuck on I&I duty right now so I can't deploy for another 2 years.

I&I duty anywhere is better than oki for 2 years.

here is what I did today, since I got out of work at 3

since I'm a firefighter, I thought it would be appropriate

welded some tabs on (old bed frame)

drilled some holes and made the frame tabs

I still have to cap the right side and make the edges around the battery, although I'm thinking of mounting all of the electronics in it with a hinged top and mounting the battery low behind the engine since its so heavy. I'll figure it out on the weekend I guess

Newb question: Where is the cdi/rectifier/electronic bits on that red one? I love it by the way. I have the same bike, but I went in a diff direction with it.

here's a different view and it's been repainted a gloss black since I took the pic.
BTW, I know its a big world, but I have an old friend that trains SAR in San Diego b y the name of John Molloy. He's got about 18 years in by now. Just wonder if you ever crossed paths.

its cool, I'm a newb too, check my join date. I mounted it vertical behind the battery, you can see it in the 4th pic, where I'm sitting on it

here is what I got accomplished today, gonna make a battery mount and hopefully finish the wiring this weekend

going to use a hinge and the old piece to keep it closed

                    lots of useless stuff

connected a switch temporarily instead of a keyed ignition, so its easier to work on for the next few months

hmm, I have been thinking about it and I have some cool mesh sheet metal I have been saving, probably make the cover and side out of that.

                            mounted the coils today.
                            made a battery bracket.
cut a transfer case shifter I had sitting around to start sizing up the suicide shifter, it is a secondary project since I just want to get it on the road before the snow hits.

I was going to make a run to autozone for some exhaust pipe, but I had a couple of PBRs and I don't want to run into some cop who has a hard-on for firefighters, there is some jealousy. sorry for the wordy post, on to the pics in no real order
