Pretty much done
I had a nine mile Dyna 2000. I put the oil seal in cockeyed and ruined the trigger and rotor. Had to change ignition on the side of a highway. Good times.
Set the full advance with a degree wheel to 32 degrees on both coils.
Retourqed the head and checked the valve clearance.
Soldered the stator wires and cleaned up the rats nest of wires.
Installed a oil temperature guage (thanks Jim!)
Put on a new chain guard (thanks Scott!)
Plugs were clean and pretty white so I raised the needle one notch
In the carbs running 155 mikuni mains/50 pilot jets/DJ needle second notch from bottom
Degreed cams 108/108
Thanks to Kris V for use of his shop and hours of help. You the man!!
Raymond (Quicksilver Ray) for getting me a great deal on the Wiseco 1229 kit, trading me for the 1150 crank, the valve job and all the good advice.

Isnt it always summer in Calif?
I pulled my engine out today, took about 3 hours or so. Hopefully i can get the 1170 kit for it.
I maxed out my torque wrench (140#) taking off the front spocket, a little too tight eh? A source of my noise maybe.Last edited by Guest; 06-10-2010, 12:59 AM.

Now it's jetting time.
Started with
155 Mikuni mains
50 Pilot jets
Needle on second from bottom
Plugs sooty with no heat color on threads
Now
152.5 Main
50 Pilot
Needle two and a half from bottom
This is a very safe jet with good color on the plugs and a half to one thread of heat.
I'll stick with this until the motor breaks in. The first jetting would inhibit the engine from breaking in with the rich settings.
With a cold engine I also did a Compression check with 110 across the board. Could be better but again on a cold motor. The motor only has 200 miles on it.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
