    The Fridge

    I picked up this GS 1000 race bike through the forum, with the intent of returning it to the street as a race style bike

    It was shipped to me in a big box from Ontario,Canada



    An hour later, it was in my trailer





    Not very street worthy





    A head light, tail light and exhaust baffle later, it was off to the DMV for a title and license

    I rode it at the Shasta Rally, picking up a speeding ticket

    Nice bike. Indicators are not needed for a roadworthy?

      Apparently not critical at the DMV - he just wanted to check the VIN on the bike against the Canadian registration I presented

      I'm sure it's not legal without them. They'll be fitted as I get the electrics back in shape

          This spring

          I've got a Katana 600 front end, a GS 1100 swing arm, Marzzocchi Strada shocks and a Katana rear wheel to install plus I'm moving the battery to the tail and electrics up under the seat. I've made a plate for the electrical components to fit on



          and this will be the next step. Then, a plate under the tail so I can eliminate the back of the inner fender. That plate will hold the tail light and license plate, plus hold up the battery, which will be installed in the tool box in the tail. I mocked up a battery by cutting up a file folder and I started cutting up the tool box







          I got carried away and took off the rear wheel without freeing the front sprocket first. I'm working on getting that done now, it looks like the nut is lock tited on, as it does not succumb to my 18" breaker bar and my awesome power



          I've put Deep Creep on the shaft and I'll make sure the tab on the washer is fully flattened, then try again. If that doesn't do it, out comes the torch. The plate shown came with the bike and provided a shield behind the carbs. The big hole is where the breather tube ran to a catch bottle under the seat

            Just put the rear wheel back on & use a 1/2 inch drive air impact on it! Too much effort involved to use muscle to do it instead of air tools! Ray.

                I was passing a slow truck and the CHP came around the corner just as I pulled back in. He wanted to give someone a ticket and I was it. Gary got one by following me

                  No air, no shop. Just a few SF in a crowded garage.

                      I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on this one. Is it going to have the skunk cosmetics or the '79.

                        Skunk - White body work with a light (hopefully Cooley) blue stripe. Using that 78 tail piece you sent me,of course
