Your rear brake hose should route forward out of the master and then loop down and back along the swingarm. Hoepfully it's long enough to route this way.

Hah, no matter how many times you say that I still don't believe you. Thanks Nessim! I knew something didn't look right but with my swingarm not done yet I couldn't mock it up to figure it out. I'll fix that when I get home. Saved me some head scratching later.

Been a bit since an update so here's what's new. Picked up the Ohlin style shocks from Dan and got those installed. Got the rear end put back together. Electrical gremlins resolved. Tank dropped off at the body shop to get fixed. I mixed some Jet Black, Super White and Victory red paint today and got that to the painter. Ran into a small problem with the 1100 swingarm and the shocks, the swingarm was wedging itself into the exhaust/rear peg brackets so I had to get a really big pry bar and give myself a hernia prying them out a bit. I have sourced up most of the brake conversion bits and am waiting for those parts to get in.

Rear end together. Polished 1100 swinger (needs to be cleaned already ), Ohlin's style shocks, wire wheel, new bearings, Swage-Line stainless braided brake hose, fresh paint and some stainless/new fasteners.


Left side. Notice that between the Progressive front springs and new rear shocks she's sitting taller. That also means she leans way over on the side stand. Going to get a 1" spacer made to bolt between the frame and side stand. I'm not a big guy and that's a big lean to heft her out of.


A better idea of the lean. Got the upgraded headlight put in, bar end mirrors, new ProGrip grips, superbike bar. Still waiting on the rest of my cables to come in.








I expect to have her back on the road within two weeks so long as BikeBandit doesn't take forever getting my (delayed once again) parts here. I'll update again when I get the tank back.

All those 781000's lean way over... more than any other GS I've seen.

Thanks Dan! She's just leaning excessively now. It's not really hurting anything I'd just rather raise it up a notch at some point. It takes effort now without a tank full of gas and/or luggage.

Those GM connectors...did you source those at a local autoparts store? Seeing you do that makes me want to convert all the bullett connectors on my 1100EZ.

Looking great son. I'll be picking up some of those connectors this summer to rewire the new to me old yamaha 30' sailboat. 30 years of Pacific salt air have done a number on many of it's connections and the environmental connectors should be just what's needed.

wow, this bikes coming along great. glad ta see you can actually do the work yourself for the most part. yeah and thanks, was thinking about polishing my swingarm, i've since changed my mind....im subscibing to this thread, just wanna see that badboy finished, and personally, i like that drag style seat too...

That would be great, Ian. I think there is a carquest around here somewhere. These are just replacing single male/female bullets, yes?

I don't have much knowledge of wiring/electrical, so if it is more complicated than cutting off a connector, stripping off insulation and crimping on a new connector, I'm usually asking for a bit of help from more knowledgable people. Thanks a ton! You can just drop me an email or pm here on GSR.
