I like that GS logo on your measuring board thing...maybe you could incorporate that into your paint job
Is it just me, or do you love the smell of body filler. Makes me feel good, dunno why, everytime I smell it, it takes me back!
I was gonna suggest not using putty, but I was too late, glad you got rid of it. I use this metalic body filler, its looks like a liquid metal mesh paste, very weird, but awesome to work with. Anywho...good work!
I didn't even see that logo... haha... that's the portable work bench...
I've got some fibreglass reinforced stuff to go on because it's going over fibreglass and I figured the metal reinforced one would be a little bit over the top in this case.

And yeah... I just *love* undoing what I spent hours doing...

Ok, here's the tail piece after a very short amount of time on it yesterday, and the grab rail is just sitting there for the moment:
I picked up the foam for my seat as well as some other supplies:
Hopefully that fine line masking tape and the masking paper solves my masking and bleeding worries for the stripes.
If I get done what I want to get done today at the very least I should have clean guns and a nicely shaped, smooth tail piece.
I'd like to get 5 minutes to pop the foam on the seat pan and see how it feels too...1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Pete the blue tape is okay, i used it on my helmet but still got some bleeding in areas as the tape is not curvable, if you have to curve it etc best to get the green one.

Yeah, pete, you shouldn't have any dramas with it, it is the same as the green stuff, the ony diffirence is the width, the blue stuff is 6mm and the green stuff is 3mm, so better for compound curves and corners, but in your case, that ain't a problem, your lines are all straight, pretty much.

Cheers guys, appreciate the input!
All the lines will be straight so no dramas there.
I got plenty of tips in the paint thread to help prevent bleeding so I'm pretty confident that'll be safely sorted.
I'm not so confident in the rest but that's a different story...
Here's a tip when working with body filler:
Use scales that can actually measure what you need to measure.

this thread is teaching me patience, Pete.
I check it out daily to see what you've done and I know you have to take your time but I'm itching to see what it turns out like.
