Cheers Rick! It's getting there slowly, but hopefully this time next week I'll have sprayed some primer on everything...

The mirrors are cheapies off eBay but won't do you any good unless you have the left hand thread on the brake side like the Yammies do, which is why I had to get these particular ones.

Tail piece is still whipping my butt, but I got these today:

The carving tools are for whatever I do with the neoprene to make the knee pads for the tank so I can carve out the "S" logo or something.

The other one is the bearing missing from the rear wheel set I bought.

Cool... I got slightly different ideas for mine... may or may not turn out as I would like though as I've never tried my hand at rubber carving before... then again I haven't tried engine rebuilding, making a fibreglass tail piece, frame or body work painting, making a fork brace... hahaha

Pete, I have to applaud your spirit of doing everything on the bike yourself, good on you.
I know that a lot of things are beyond the scope of those without the machinery or tools, even the knowledge, and get farmed out to third parties.
But doing all yourself truely makes it yours.
Not to mention increasing your skills in areas you never dreamed of before.

After all the dramas and trials, it is going to feel so good to throw your leg over the bike, knowing it is all your work.

More Voltaren for those arms, sir?

                      Thanks Stan, appreciate the compliment

One thing I really wanted when doing this was to push myself through doing things I've never done before to both learn them for curiousity and, as you say, to make the bike "mine".

Some bits are exceptions such as the exhaust, and most places that sell tyres here include fittings costs so I don't think I'll be doing that either.

And yep, at the end, it is going to feel very good indeed (as long as the paint works out ok!)

And no need for Voltaren just yet, but I'll probably end up with Popeye's right forearm and Olive Oil's left one...

                        Success!!!!!

There's nothing left there that makes me think I can't whack the primer on on Monday, so I should be good to go

And in other news I wondered where my R/R was considering the last tracking information was on the 25th September but it was all in Chinese or Taiwanese and I couldn't read it, so I hassled the post office today and whaddya know... once again they didn't put a card in our PO Box and it's been sitting there since the 29th September!! Stupid doddery old fools really should give up and retire already... they're too stupid to run a business! Enough ranting... here it is:

So in theory the only thing remaining is stripping the paint on the tank which I'll do first thing Monday and then I can get stuck into priming and painting... should be interesting to say the least!

Cheers Andre! Painting is going to be interesting... I'm looking at your bags and fairing as well as Dale, Ed, and Larry's work for inspiration here... got myself a hard act to follow!
