Yeah they will be Loctited after I take it apart this winter.Think someone was going to take the engine out as I got it at a salvage place.

Did some things this weekend(Friday and Saturday for me)Noticed a oil leak from what seemed to be the head gasket.Retorqued the head nut and no more leakReplaced the Philips screws on the GPI sender(?) that was leaking with allen screws.I'm slowly replacing all those Philips as I hate them.repainted the starter cover and the lower fairing stays, tired of seeing them rusty and sad looking.

14 days till the great tear down begins.Insurance runs out on October 22.Then off comes every thing. All going to be painted ,polished or cleaned. Finally decided it's going redwith gold pinstripes.May do some black but have not decided for sure yet. Will take lots of pics to keep you entertained.Never been so excited for insurance ending!

Got my envelope from Mr.Barr today. On of the first thing on the agenda is to do a PineSol dip http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=165622 .Can you even get the favored Berryman's in Canada? As mine are mixing well now Berrymans is probably overkill.Did the boot O rings already,post#49.A thank you to Mr.Barr for doing this for GSR and all the other makes that use his Oring sets

Pretty good for a couple of hours out there.Stay tuned for more

                      Been waiting for this

So what's the plan with the tear down? General neaten up? Repaint? Something else entirely?

Apologies if I've missed the answer but I thought I'd kept up with your thread...

Guess you would say a general neaten up with a complete repaint.Body work red with gold pinstripes i plan on doing the hard way http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=165697 .Nothing fancy,I like it the way it is except for all the PO neglect.

Sounds like a good plan actually, that should go well especially with the red highlights on the motor and the red brake lines.

Had a peak at your other thread and there's no way my hand would be steady enough for that, so good luck! Looks like you're getting the hang of it in the last pic though.

A new brush and a bit of good advice made a big improvement.

Had some car distractions this week but got some more done today.I did some last weekend to but not enough to post.

The rest of the body work is off, wiring is out and the carbs are out.Next big one is to get the engine out.Good times
Love having room to work in the shed, especially on a showery day like today!

                                You're definitely getting somewhere now!

I'm jealous of the room you have to work too.

To get in to mine, I have to back my wife's car out of the garage, then move the rolling frame so I can get into the work bench.

Very frustrating and restrictive, especially if I want to do something late at night without making any noise!
