Did my wiring harness with contact cleaner tonight. After I sprayed them I put dielectric grease in the bullet socket covers. As I plug them back in I will clean those connectors to.Was expecting it to be harder.Suppose it is if you have the harness on the bike.

Put the front wheel on,bars and hardware to.

Like this cover.Has more character than the 85,was worth the hassle to get it on.
      Hoping to use this

To get some of this out

May have done a bit of good. Will keep trying.

Starting to resemble a motorcycle there... nice

At first glance I thought those were a mutant pair of jeans with four legs, then I realised they're your pipes

What is that that you're holding up for the pic there? Is it some sort of panel beating tool? I got no idea...

Sorry the pic is blurry. It's a piece of large theaded rod I ground down to s hopefully beat out the dent in the pipe.

If you're interested there is a local guy that uses compressed air and heat to remove dents in pipes. Not sure of the cost but between talking with him and seeing photos it looks like he gets them out pretty well. Let me know if you want his info. Projects looking great, you're going to be riding sooner than you thought.

Is that how he does it?Seen his ad on UsedVic.Should see how much he wants. This is my attempt to copy something I seen done here. The guy welded a 1.5 inch ball bearing to the front of the rod.Where would I even find one of those?

              Comment

Aaaaah I get ya now... stick a big ball bearing on it and shove it up there to push the dints out. Am I right?

The compressed air deal sounds like it could be a winner if he doesn't want an arm and a leg for it though...

Yeah that's the idea Pete.Thinking you need the bearing to make it work.
AZR you don't happen to know where to find that guy? His ad is gone from UsedVic.

Been taking apart the 'water engine' from post #72 to get parts for a member but mostly because I never took a bike engine apart before.

The cylinders came off easier than I expected.Pistons actually look OK.

Even this one would probably clean up good.Happy I don't have to!

                          The bad cylinder

The rest look like this.Still wonder how that much water got in 1 cylinder.Almost like someone deliberately put it in there.
Thanks midnight, love doing things on the cheap.Even if it's mostly out of necessity

All I can really say to that is eeewwww... and I'm glad I don't have to deal with it either!

But yeah, I'm learning heaps about my motor and combustion engines in general I guess by doing my rebuild.

Simple things like now getting how the clutch actually works and stuff like that is making some sense.

Quite interesting finding all the hidden bolts to split the cases. All for nothing really as the parts I need to get off where behind the clutch. That was a duh moment.Been doing a lot of there stuff this weekend(mines Friday and Saturday).Did get these:

50% off at my favorite local shop. Was not going to try them as the box said size 12.I generally take 11.Good thing I did try them, they fit absolutely great.I have a fairly hard time with footwear because I have long, skinny thin feet.Rarely find shoe let alone boots that fit as well as these.

Nice boots. Where is the 50% off sale? Out in Sooke somewhere?
