News. I went to the Motorcycle Warehouse... Oh man, SO MUCH TREASURE!!! I plan to go again sometime. I picked up a tank, I'm not sure what model it is from but the width of the bottom, the girth of the gas tank rubbers is good. Just... the tail of the tank is alittle short... ;_; I am gonna head to Joanne's Fabric and get some floral foam, maybe try to fab something? I really do like this tank and my gas cover fit's it perfectly. However, I still need to clean the inside and get a new petcock gasket.

    Sadly, apparently; Drag racers come to that location to pick the 1000 tanks when he has them, replacing any tanks they ding up while racing. Makes me a little sad. But what can I do.. ;_;

So... I guess I need to ask, are any of you guys seeing these pictures. I was advised that unless my album from Facebook is public you guys can't see!

I apologize if this is the case. Let me know and I will update properly going forward.

Also I got some new photos to show and I'm getting stoked!

Do you see these pictures Chuck? Just curious. Anywho. Send me a picture or post one of that seat. I have no issues creating stuff... I'm fairly interested in composites.

          Thanks.

Just a little link... This happened near where I grew up here in Maine. I know that Track of land. Also, it was a ZOOK!

Slowly been working on my bike. She idles great - so far, no leaks, loving it so far, however, the bane of my existence has been a few things, the tank, the brakes and the tires.

I currently have 3 tanks. 1 stock - came with bike, 1 bought from here (looking to sell), 1 GS850g tank - won't fit my E, and a very interesting tank that I could not identify but fits my frame with an attachment. (yay for fabbing!)

My current project on my plate is fixing my original tank, I like it too much and well, I'm going to invest my time into it.

                    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IInCDCV5s1c

                    Also:

I plan to fiberglass repair my tank, I have watched some really good videos on Youtube on repairing gas tanks with fiberglass.

I already cleaned the inside but that doesn't mean I won't do it again to etch the surface for the tank liner... I'm getting excited.

The breaks I am likley going to have to rebuild the rear master cylinder... Oh well.

The tires are another issue. The rear tire has good tread and no dry rot cracks in the side walls, the front tire rubber however, is pretty worse off, I probably wouldn't trust it for any ride of distance save to test the bike in my driveway...

It's been awhile. I won't be surprised if anyone doesn't read or respond to this. I have a habit of doing things at a snail's pace.

I have sanded down the majority of the places where I found the cracks when I de-rusted my tank. The results aren't as bad as I thought. My project to fiberglass repair this tank seems all the more easy now.

Which style 850G tank is it? Do you want to sell it? I need one for my 1100G, the later stye with the two mounting holes in the rear.

Hi all. Not sure if anyone is following this thread anymore and if you are not, I can completely understand but for the sake of documentation. I have finished repairs on my gas tank. I plan to seal it and then put all the components back on it. I will have pictures of my progress soon, all that really needs to be done to the bike now:

Tires (need new ones... hard to determine what I need as Bikebandit/local places are saying different things.) - I need to check my silly tires myself to determine what kind...

Brakes - Friend of mine says my brakes are probably fine, but I need to bleed and replace the brake fluid.

Other than that, just visuals at this point. That exhaust looks pretty bad and I plan to do a lot of sanding to determine what's up.

I have followed Basscliff's site information, anyone got anything else one thinks I must do?

I got depressed the last year about my bike, my lack of enthusiasm, just not being able to ride, even offering to use 600$ for a working bike many times in my area: only to be beat by another bike rider!

LOL. Anyways. T-anks for listening. I will have pictures of my tanks up soon.

Taking breaks are a good thing to do while working on your BRAKES.
It allows time for the air bubbles to rise to the top.

There is a fluid that you take when you want to take a break?
