I gotcha! Totally didn't realize my spelling of Brakes was incorrect... Silly me! MY fluid of choice when taking a break is any Homebrew my friends make! Had a really tasty Honey Apple Cyser. Had a Bitter taste but it was good.

What's cyser? Or do you mean Cider?

I'd say the Brits make the best cider I've ever had.

Cyser is a fermented beverage. It is a type of mead. Mead is considered by some to be mankind's oldest fermented beverage. Mead is simply honey and water that has fermented. Early examples were fermented by wild yeast. Modern manufactured mead is a controlled product just as wine is. Makers control the variables in the manufacture, yielding a consistent product. When honey is mixed with fruit juice the resulting fermentation is a type of mead known as metheglin. When the fruit juice used in making metheglin is apple juice - the resulting fermentation is known as cyser. Cyser!

Sooooo this thread is pretty old. I've been quite happy with the progress that I have made with my bike.

However it's time to let her go. I don't have the money to support her anymore and I have purchased a working motorcycle. To recoup some of my losses, I'm looking to sell her for $700 or best offer. I hate to do it but I don't want to keep her from being happy.

Go Fast Period Mods, a JB repaired stripped Tank, Confirmed engine start/throttle run from my video in earlier posts. I'm sure someone out there has the spare parts to get her road (inspect able) worthy. I'll be posting some current pictures to show the condition she is in. I'd rather not part her out, but if after some time on craigslist/uncle henry's, if no one wants her I'll part her. I'm putting this on here to give you guys a chance first.

This bike was sold to me from a friend who purchased a house and it was on the property, never got the chance to look at any paperwork etc.

              hum de dum de dum....

can you look into papers? that's a big part of my worry with my current 78 1000 project

i am interested, just not yet sure how interested i am, or can afford to be. i'm sure pictures will be a big motivator though.

If you part it I'd be interested in the exhaust.

Definitely get it titled, while it isn't an issue to get a historic title for a bike that has a lost title in Maine. Other states like here in Maryland you cannot re-title or register any vehicle without one. If you get a title to go with the bike then you may get some takers. Too bad you're letting it go, that is a real find because of all the upgrades. If you had made the decision to sell 6 months ago I would have been all over it. did you also post under the market place part of the forum?

I'd be curious as to the fiberglass tank repair. Those were pretty large holes to fill, and I've had bad experiences trying to make the two work together. They (metal and 'glass) don't want to stay bonded, expand and contract at radically different rates, and always seem to come apart. Add gas to the mix, and I think you may encounter leakage down the road. I hope not, but just wanted to throw that out there..

I now own the bike Just picked her up yesterday. I plan a full teardown/rebuild/upgrade. And that means EVERYTHING, nothing will go untouched.

I will start another thread and add a link to this thread to get it there.

                        Cheers,
                        Daryl

                          Welcome to the site, Daryl.
With all the cool bits on that bike it does need to get finished.

This will be my 3rd GS1000 since 1984.
I now need to start finding Canadian suppliers for parts, I like OEM stuff. Any suggestions are welcome.

I am thinking a GSXR front end as the tubes are in bad shape as are the brakes so I need to look at cost of a bolt on set-up/upgrade vs rebuilding the originals.

Engine will be tore down to see what is actually there, I am thinking there may be a big bore kit. It would only make sense with the smooth bores that are installed and porting on the cylinder head along with the oil cooler.

Frame is going to get braced also.

Welcome Daryl, I appreciate the care that you will give her. I did not succeed in my attempt and although yesterday seeing the bike go, I was a little sad.

But ultimately I am happy that she is in a new place and she's going to get what she deserves!

                              Keep us posted!
