It looks great! I love the color. After 3 years of sitting the carbs definitely need/should be cleaned.1979 GS850G

Robert Barr at cycleorings.com has what you need (don't forget to get intake boot O-rings too).
Bike looks good. They didn't have that color scheme for the US market bikes. What year is it? They stopped bringing it here in '83 but continued for various other markets for several years after.Ed

Always happy to see another 850 running again. Great bikes and your's look like a real fine machine too. I'd have to summit an educated guess that Scottland is a great place to ride the twisties. I'm jealous already.

nearly done just a couple of bits still to do here and there was going to get some kind of rust stop and coat the frame before any paint goes on

How many wire brush heads did you go through? I will be doing the same this winter on the parts bike frame to possibly sell or use in a different project. As far as the bare frame I would just alcohol the frame down and give it all a quick coat of sandable primer till your ready to paint. But there are others who know much more about painting and prep.

three on the grinder and two on the drill also used the sander personaly i quite enjoyed just sitting out the back grinding and sanding away don`t think this would be everyone`s cup of tea .Ive only went down this road myself because i saw the fantastic job glstine did on his frame plus i wanted to able to say that it was me that done most of the rebuildLast edited by Guest; 07-31-2010, 01:54 PM.
