As for the light, no primer, just roughed it up to give the paint good purchase, and 4 coats of "Appliance White" straight out of a $2 rattle can, cheap and nasty.
I figured that that tail light housing is the most protected part of the whole motorcycle, and really does not need paint with any sort of durability, besides it was never painted from the factory, so it is the plastic itself that has faded with age, the paint will retain its colour for another 30 years, besides, I was not going to spend on a half a litre of 2K when that is the only part of the whole bike that gets done white.

All kidding aside, that left control looks excellent! now that you cleaned it up all nice and proper. Guest repliedGK, I used, believe it or not, a BMW motor car OEM colour, called Cosmic Black, it is a two part, base coat/clear coat, but the magic is, if you don't apply the clear, the base coat does not shine, giving you a finish somewhere between gloss and satin, I reckon about 70% gloss, which is what they were fom the factory.
Also, I can't remember the 750ES, I don't think it is the same though, it has plain black if I remember correctly, but the G's, and I think the other litre bikes '80 - '81 actually had a very fine metal flake in the swiches, which you could see if you look carefully, they were not just flat black, the Cosmic Black has the same metal flake.
How it will hold up??? I have no idea, we shall see, but I doubt it will be an issue, it certainly won't chip off when tightening up he pinch bolts.
As for brake fluid, I am afraid there is no paint that will stand up to it, no matter what anyone tells you, the only thing is anodizing or powder coating.
I still have my calipers and master cylinders to do, and I am not sure what I am going to do yet, if budget allows, when I get around to them, probably black anodizing, otherwise a good 2K paint, and just be very careful during assembly and bleeding, I guess the trick is to keep the brake fluid inside the system, after all.
