Hey man she looks great and the pix are stirring. It is wonderful to see these bikes with new leases on life proving their worth and showing they can get it done. Built not bought.

What happened there Stan? Did the bike fall over after someone parked it on cobblestones and grass?

Damn fine looking ride regardless. How does it run?

Oh man! Sorry to see that, that tank was a 10! Dented mine and cracked my fairing while it was warming up on the sidewalk last spring. I was LLLLLLLIVID to say the least.

long story short, been having issues with rust in the tank that has been plaguing me, derusted the tank on Sunday with some hydrochloric acid and immediately filled it to the brim with fuel to stop flash rust.
Anyway, I also stripped and cleaned the carbs on Sunday to remove the rust that had got through (it was running badly on Friday on the way home from work)
had the tank on top of the trunk of the car connected with a long pipe to the carbs to set and tweak the mixture screws, turne my back for a minute and heard an almighty thump.
Tank slid off the trunk and landed on its side on the concrete garage floor.
It would be a gross understatement to say I am not in a happy place right now.

Other than that I have done 1600km since the rebuild, slowly taking care of the little details, new grips, new mirrors, she sprung an oil leak from one of the half moons, replaced all four and the valve cove gasket with genuine Suzuki parts.
She runs sweetly, starts with a one second punch of the starter button, hot or cold, and pulls strong, like a freight train.
Now that she has done some milage and everything has settled down, I gave her, her head on Wednesday and let her stretch her legs, on the super slab, before I could realise she was running at 200kph, and pulling like a beast.
She is returning on average 39 miles to the gallon, could be a bit better I think.
She does draw compliments and get conversations started wherever I park her, feels good, except when I am in a hurry.

Update time, after many months passing after the accident with Jennifer's tank, due to circumstances and life getting in the way, she is getting the attention she deserves.

The initial damage from the fall

After many days and ady and even more days of ironing out the wrinkles and block sanding, she is finally in her underwear, if I never see another sanding block again it will be too soon, but she is as straight as a die, I am happy.

The weather Gods are being kind again today, so with some luck she can slip into her little black number.
