Good stuff, you don't have the initials like NASA does... you know the Need Another Seven Astronauts one?

I wonder if Chinese rubber smells different to other rubber?

If you had rubber to spare I'd say deposit some on their driveway too...
I have the old Chinese tyre sitting there...
    Hmmm (strokes beard thoughtfully)

The Road Test is still on, of course, just delayed.
Kind of like a shuttle launch but hopefully without the bang.

That's a real bugger, but you will get your chance again soon

    AAAARRGGH!!

    Stupid bloody neighbourhood!

I did the pre-flight checks, I dusted off the lid and jacket.
The battery was charged, the bike was warmed and rolled out into the driveway.

I stood grinning at it as I finished a ciggie in the cool night air.
I felt like a teenager on a first date with the hot chick from school.

10.30. I figured it was a prime time to do the road tests on the Fat Girl.
There wasn't a sound from the streets.
All quiet on the Western Front, Sarge.

I threw a leg over and fired her up.
As I did the strap on the helmet the peace was shattered by a siren and red & blues in the dark.

I panicked. How could they know?
    But it wasn't for me.
The neighbours around the corner had decided Road Test Night was also Have An Argument Night.

Two cop cars and a bike.
All at the corner of my court.
I suppose I could have nonchalantly waddled on by but I know how my luck runs.

I rolled the bike back into the shed and wandered inside.
    Soon, my pretty, soon.

Would it be wrong to fire-bomb my argumentative neighbours's house? Just a little bit?
They ruined my evening after all.

I'll get some photos when I drag it out of the shed, Pete.
I've taken enough of it sitting there looking forlorn.
I'll aim for Thursday night, I reckon.

Thumb? I've missed something. (EDIT : I found your thumb story, Stumpy)
I finish my bike and you break a thumb.
What am I in for when you finish yours? Oh dear...
Not the collar bone again, please.

Onya Leigh!!!! See I bust my thumb and you get yours finished, nice one

And I agree with Simon that late night runs with less traffic are definitely being kind and considerate to your fellow man.

So one little pesky question... where are the pic's???!!!

    My thoughts exactly.
I'm all about caring for my fellow man.

Merry Christmas to you too, mate.

I believe you have a responsibility to your friends , family and neighbours to ensure the bike is functioning correctly and safely before you take to the streets . Testing in the middle of the night , when there are fewer road users about , seems the most considerate approach .

Well done , that man .

    Cheers , Simon .

P.S Merry chrissy old mate .

    Well, the bike is done.

Just a little cosmetic polishing and washing.
The bad news is that I can't afford the rego and inspection just yet.
Besides, who wants to pay rego at Christmas each year?

The good news is that I live in a rather non-policed suburb with winding little back streets.
There will be late night shake down runs.
It only makes sense to ensure the bike is right doesn't it?

I can feel my bones creaking from here.

There was talk last year of reviving the old Grand Prix road circuit out of Launceston.
Having personally, erm, tested those roads* over the years I can vouch for them. the Fun-O-Meter would be on the redline.

*Roads tested under sort of closed conditions and I had a fluoro vest on. Hehehe.

Imagine the old dinosaurs that'd turn up to watch .

Ahhhhhhh , Bathurst . The police locked inside their own compound afeared of the great unwashed . Sleeping in your own vomit . GREAT racing and GREAT mates . Those were the days , before it all turned beige .

Bring back "around the houses" as well . Makes you almost want to move to Un Zud .

    Cheers , Simon .
