Thanks Pete, i'll look through BassCliff's list and Ebay.
See if I can't get one on the cheap.

If I can't find one then I'll get that part number off you thanks, Simon.

            Hey Chuck, sadly no.
I haven't touched it for quite a few months.
Some major league crap (read : Life) got in the way.

But over the next month I will have it done and make the most of the coming summer.
I vow not to go through another summer looking sadly out of my car window as bikes go by.

I'm going to get it on the road basically as is then polish it off next winter.

Rattle Can Black is a perfectly acceptable subsitute in situations like this.

                    Jeeeze , I feel like a wanker .
Checked the numbers on my R/R and it's a Shindengen .
I was told that it comes up as a Honda part . (Probably does for all the other Jappers as well ) .
The number on mine is SH2?2-12 0.1 . Couldn't read the middle number . To old . (The label , not me) .

Pete , a beer is always well had .
We'll be heading DOWN the road . Can't be more specific than that I'm afraid . The plan prolly wont change much from that till after said beer (They'll be lights if we're riding though) . We tend to "left or right" when we get to the fork . Rarely any earlier . So if you happen to be up for a ride , it's done .

                    Cheers , Simon .

Going by what's on the list on BassCliff's site, I expect that would be a SH232-12... however it looks like Leigh and I will be taking a $16.00 gamble on a cheaper unit (at least I have already anyway)... if it works then yeehaa, if it doesn't then it was only $16.00 and I'll blame Leigh coz he pointed me to it

Looking like my situation has stabilised again, so everything still on track for the moment meaning a catch up and potentially a ride is likely to be on the cards

                        Well, today was a loss.
I spent an hour in the shed trying to get the pig to start.

A couple of interesting observations to make.
It showed signs of a flat battery even though the multimeter says the battery is kicking out 12.4. freshly charged and a relatively new battery that has been working every other time I tried to start it.

The bike turns over a lot easier with the choke on than off.

The 15amp fuse looks a little warped and a couple of the 10s are a bit suss too.
I'll change them out tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.

The small pot next to the fuse box.. Is that the starter relay?

It got warm after a bit of cranking..

Looks like I have a bit of searching/reading/head scratching to do.

                        Comment

                          Secondly..
Does that RR look like a stock unit to you guys?
3 yellow wires would say otherwise to me..

                          Comment

OK, I just went back out to the shed for a look-see.

I think I've figured why it won't start. The tank is dry.
Always the last thing you check, eh?

That doesn't explain the weird cranking though.
I'll replace those warped fuses in the morning, fuel it up and see what I can get out of it.

                              Ok... first things first...

Your electrics look ugly Have you checked voltage other places than the battery? Wondering if you're having some fun with nice big voltage drops across the harness.

Measuring at the coils is usually a good way to see what's going on there as it's passed through both the ignition switch and kill switch by that point.

Next up, yep, that's your starter solenoid there.

Next... not sure on the R/R, those three yellow wires appear to be part of your harness so not sure that's a giveaway...

A dry tank will do it!

Just thinking... how long since you've started the beast? If it's been a while, did you yank the plugs and give it some cranks until the oil light went off first? It may or may not help your starting issue but will at least get some oil around the shop before kicking it over...

All in all that was a rather useless post though wasn't it?

                                Nah, all good mate.
I'm ok when they're running but I get easily baffled by electrics.

I'm not so sure about the RR now.
As far as I can see from the photo, those yellow wires continue into the loom.
