Which model 750 and which model 1000?
The 1980 -1981 GS 750 tank fits nicely on GS1000E bikes, it even looks pretty good. Other than that I don't think so.Last edited by tkent02; 11-15-2010, 11:16 AM.

Hi It's a gs1000E frame and I'm trying to find a tank to fit but there doesn't seem to be a lot of gs1000 tanks around at the moment but there are a couple of 750 ones. Thanks Wayne

OK, the 1980 750/1100 tank should be easier to find, we put one on a 1980 GS100E, it fit fine. The earlier 1000E tanks fit the same as well, so the 750/1100 tank will work on any of them.
Do you have welding torches? I have a mostly straight 1978 1000E skunk tank to sell, but it has a lot of rust pinholes that would need to be brazed.

Hi thanks for the advice, I'd be interested in you tank except I'm in the UK so postage would be prohibitive. Thanks Wayne

gs1000 tanks,,,,,
hi a while ago i badly needed a new better tank and i,m in australia,,, my old gs1000e tank looked like swiss cheese,,, anyway,, i was on ebay.com when a lovely black gloss tank came up for 30us, bucks 10 days later it arrived and i opened it up it was gloss black with silve/gold flec and gloss clear over there was no way i could ever match it .. and it fitted my 1980 gs1000e ,,, BUT was a 750 the petcock was closer to the motor the petcock was on top of the carbs,, i ended up getting an old welder to weld on a cover plate under the tank and then i repositioned the 50mm set up holes for my petcock,, hope this helps you ,,,o.k. there was a new old stock gs1000 tank on ebay.com.au in australia regards david

A UK GS750 tank won't fit without serious mods. However a GSX750 / GSX1100 UK spec tank will fit. I've got a pretty nice (no dents, paint 'not bad') Heron colours GS1000 tank spare - if you're interested drop me a pm (cost me £100 - yours for the same).79 GS1000S
79 GS1000S (another one)
80 GSX750
80 GS550
80 CB650 cafe racer
75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father
