Mirrors... I need mirrors! Found these while searching for a style I like and then found a vendor with a realistic price on them. Once the birthday money transfers to pay-pal I can get them ordered.

Mate she looks gooooood... love it
That seat suits her perfectly and those mirrors should fit in nicely as well.
Really taking shape and looking the goods now
And yeah, the GL and the GS definitely complement each other there1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Well a significant milestone occured... she runs and MOVES! Thats right, here it is Dec 20th and I actually rode her down the road.
OK only to the corner and back as it was cold, dark, and damp... but I just couldn't help myself.
Pretty uneventful as it was just a mile to the corner and back. But enough to put a grin on my face! several stop-n-go's in the beginning, one time it was a little stiff to get get out of first gear, but then gently got up to 5th gear. Return trip was more like a regular ride and felt great!

Thanks Smellii i have yet to manage the art of making video's. That was my first attempt at one, actually two different takes but couldn't figure out how to edit it... and the lighting was too dark when I walked around.

What's left before she's actually done and back on the road? Can't be too much now surely?1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Ha-ha yeah that will be the longest running obsticle, right know there is no white stuff on the ground (snow is a 4 letter word) so it made it easier.
Lets see, once the mirrors come I think thats about it to be rideable legally.
But then I am wondering about getting a small chrome front fender, the original headlight ring has a small dent and scuff, maybe some mini gauges, and I STILL want an aluminum swinger from an 1100 some day.
But those can wait and happen as funds allow unless something else comes up.

Sweet glad to here you got her running. One more great build to put in your stable. Still not totally crazy bout the wild paint job but I love the stance of the bike and that seat is sick... (according to my 16 year old that is a good thing). Been following this build via email your updates all come into my email account. So what you going to do next another zook or a GW. Decisions Decisions... lol. Great job.

Thanks Paul, 'tis appreciated! Yea, that paint is getting mixed reviews . But she feels good in the saddle. I took it easy that first ride so I can't wait to get out and about on it and see how she really runs!
I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a 1000 or 1100... the drag racing bug is starting to come out of hybernation after about 20 years (thanks to theGSR). Found a Strip not too far away from me that I plan on visiting this summer to see if I have any reaction time left in me.
I did spy another "mystery" bike locally that a guy supposedly lost interest in. It's a friends -friends - dad. I'm told it's complete but unknown make / model. I drove by the place the other day and sure enough an empty roller frame is sitting outside next to the barn, going to check on it this week and see just what's up with it.Last edited by Guest; 12-25-2011, 01:06 PM.

So today it it got up to the low 40's, sunny and DRY. That's not supposed to happen here on the day after Christmas!
I did a quick pre-ride inspection, fired her up and went for a longer ride around what I call the little square, 4 miles with one road being curves.Working her through the paces to get used to how she feels. Made it to an intersection that has a small church and parked it there to check it over and snap this pic.
On the return leg I rounded the last corner and have about a 1/2 mile that's flat and straight so I grabbed a hand full of throttle into 2nd then 3rd, looked down and was going over 70. DAMN she pulls harder than I even hoped!! Once it gets past mid point on the RPMs the Kerker / Suppertrap combo begins to roar along with a pull that gets stronger the higher you go... no flat spots, no mis-fires, just a surge of smooth pulling power!! Not wanting to flog on her too much, I upshifted to 4th then 5th and took her home. Confident the oil was warm and had flushed every internal crevice, I drained it and gave her a fresh filter and 4qts. now that snow is predicted for tomorrow, She should be ready to go this spring.Last edited by Guest; 12-26-2011, 09:50 PM.
