Hey Scott, that is super cool, she sounds healthy, as always, you got some good work going on there.

Thanks all, my production skills stink, too much about the other stuff and not enough about the Zook. The sound in the video doesn't do it justice. So much better in person!
as for some of the comments...
Mrs Sooke needs to see the optometrist next.
Flyboy, thats the new (here) Guinness "Black Lager"... tastes like Mothers milk
oneliterbeater, good catch! I've been a Lemme fan for decades!

Thanks Pete... I do love my old GL1100. I always call it the 'oldWing because I believe people here would think I have a shaft drive "L"
That XS450 is slated to be another Bratstyle. Not mine, a Buddys, Daughters, Boyfriend. He's a good kid who wants to build this bike himself but has no space, tools, or experiance. So he asked if I would kind or watching over him. Calls me his Mentor, I say more like a bad influence! Haven't seen him in weeks but we normally meet up on Thursdays... that would be tonight.
YOU HEAR THAT JOEL!!

It is very cool... I'd personallly like to do something with a Valkyrie, but that would have to be after I get the restored popup Katana and T500 Titan... real dream land stuff
Glad to hear you're helping the young fella out... and hey, if he wants to call you his mentor then who are you to argue right?1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Last night I cleaned the tach and speedo cables and hooked them up. Then got out the multi-meter and learned the charging system never made it past 12.5V when the engine was held revved up. I then did the White/Green to White/Red Stator wire swap and tried it again. 14.6 to upwards of 15.2 when held at mid RPM range... (whew). Headlight didn't work before or after so I need to open the bucket and verify it has voltage, maybe just a burnt out bulb, I have a new H-4 bulb to install just in case. Maybe that explains the low carging system performance before I did the wire swap... Good news is the charging system IS capable of working.
Tach is real sluggish.

YOU CAN! All I did was take it apart, clean everything, paint some of it, polish or replace the rest. Then put most of it back on.
Practice and patience are the key. There is a lot of help right here on GSResources if you hit a snag. One of the best tools is THE DIGITAL CAMERA, take lots of pics on disassembly, more than you think you'll need. Then you can refer to them later when it's time to reassemble.
If there is something specific you want to know about on my build, ask away!

I've been bargan shopping around on e-bay for better than a week, trying to spend my meager bike fund wisely and found some parts, and have more on the way. Found a pair of OEM chrome gauge covers to replace the damaged back on the tach (so now I have a spare speedo cover) They wre listed for $19 but offered $10 and he accepted. SWEET!
A pack of 6 SuperTrapp discs for $16 from Summit Racing, I put all of them in with the 4 I had but wound up removing 1 for a total of 9 discs... woke her right up. Gave it a much better sound and no longer running rich.
Then yesterday my $7 original style Front brake switch from TASmotorsports showed up. WOW I ordered that just the day before! Mathew at TAS has always treated me right and ya gotta love them Atomic Fireballs!
Four black arrow turn signals, a hooded Lucas tail light, and Superbike grips are on their way from DimeCityCycle. I have bought from them in the past as well and Herm always is willing to talk you through your choices. Hopefully the curve of the tail light mount matches up to the modded rear fender. I don't want it pointing up to the sky or down to the ground, but it looks like it is about right.

Ah, no wonder our local Hoosier has been so quite here, been out shopping, you lucky devil.
I do enjoy the anticipation of waiting for new bits to arrive. Its like therapy, tracking down the bargins and like Christmas come early when they arrive.
I also like that tail light.
