What did you oil, the gear inside the tach behind the needle or just the spot it bolts in?

Only reason I ask is because when I got mine working it squealed and it was the little gear behind the needle that spins. Just needed some squirts and it was good to go.

did you have to take it apart to oil it or did you just spray it in the shaft hole?

Lubricate it in between the threaded part that the outer cable threads onto, and the inner part that spins with the inner cable. The squealing is caused by the inner part rattling around inside the outer part as it spins, due to no lubrication. You will have to remove the speedometer and hold it upside down so the oil gets to the right place. It needs to go up inside there an inch or so. Something like spray lithium grease will probably work.

                  What he said.

I pulled it off turned it upside down and the drip bottle I used had a long thin bendable plastic straw so I just shoved it in the hole and between the mech. and the plastic to the drive wheel. Depending on your situation you might have to pull it apart but its self explainatory once you have it off and look down into it.
