It's pretty much complete and the guy just didn't want to put in the time/money to get it running again as it was sitting since '99. It had been covered AND in his garage the whole time. My dad is going to the guys house today to check it out and hopefully we will have a great parts bike to take off what we can use and part out the rest. I will keep you guys in the loop as to if I get it and what parts will be for sale.

Not sure how much in common those two bikes have...

The "G" model is a shaft drive with an 8-valve engine. Tanks, sidecovers, exhaust and such are different.

well, dad decided and I agreed we'd not get the parts bike. I was thinking more of the financial gain from that bike but he's not too much into parting it out like that. It's ok though.

I cant think much of anything other than some electrical might be usable

          update:

Connected my newer tank and fuel lines and gave it a shot. engine was cranking well but carb 3 maybe 4 began to puke fuel . I have the feeling it's just the gaskets so I'll be in need of those sooner than I thought .

Well folks, after a while of downtime I was finally able to work on the bike again. The rear brakes are finished and cleaned up/redid some of the wires going to the ignitor and other assorted wires. Went to fire her up and she wanted to turn on but I think the problem is w/ the floats . Once i order some new gaskets I'll open up the carbs to make sure all is good w/ them. Otherwise, all that's left is getting new brake lines, a new/er front master cylinder and getting my horn to work then it will be ready.

Update. carbs have been fully cleaned out/dipped/new orings/gaskets so later this week i will reinstall and give them a shot. My new aftermarket front master cylinder should be delivered today and I will get that installed this weekend. Once all that is done it should be ready for a short road test. Wish me luck

If she starts, which I am confident she now will, it will be the first time she has done so in over 14 years. It's going to be a great feeling for my dad and myself.

Ok, master cylinder came in Monday and last night I re-assembled the carbs so they are ready for reinstallation. I will hopefully be able to get everything together this coming friday.

Made some progress on the bike this weekend. Friday I fixed the wiring for my coil relay mod and determined that my coils are dead . They are only reading 1 ohm and no voltage so I ordered some good used ones off ebay. Yesterday I flushed out my front brakes until the fluid came out clear but not quite getting the amount of preassure I want so that's a work in progress. I replaced the horn relay and those are working perfectly and got my new grips on. Hopefully, she will run once I get the newer coils in.
