Not sure I follow you. Which rubber washer? I would need to move the tank backward, not forward in order to mover the petcock backward to clear the carb.

Mine is a '79. The petcock has 44mm spacing and is offset to the rear.

You will probably be OK. the Pingle's aren't as fat as a stock petcock.

FYI it's the type without the selector lever.
That style has 50mm spacing, I think....won't work.

And just for another FYI, the aftermarket ones you can buy from Z1 wont work either... Even if they have the correct bolt hole spacing, the tap faces the wrong direction and wont clear the frame tube. So you're stuck with either a Pingel or pingel knock off, or the crap stocker... As you can see, they (Zook) only used those for one year... LOL
Looking at getting one of the Pingle knock-offs. I have an adapter plate already, so just need the valve. They are about 25 bucks at Z1.

Geez, maybe I'll have this bike on the road before my rally in July.

I was meaning the rubber washer the bolt goes thru ib the back mounting hole..remove it so the rear of the tank can be lifted a bit to allow the petcock to not hit the tops of the carbs???? You get a lot of play in that big hole the bolt goes thru.

I don't want to have to rig anything. I'll hold out for a different petcock and do it right.

How/Where does one apply to the RenoBruce School of Motorcycle Artistry?

              Well done, as always!

One request: Does it come in a stealth version?

They are aftermarket. None of the GS's came with them.

I assumed that was the case but wasn't sure. If you don't mind me asking where did you get yours?

Geez, I've had them so long I don't remember where I got them. Probably from ebay.

I finally got the petcock problem fixed. I installed an aftermarket one from Z-1 and now I have about 1/8" clearance from the petcock to the back of the carb....just enough room. Now I'm able to take it out and break it in!
