The big day was a dead loss.

I bought a gallon of gas, put the tank on and connected up the hoses.
I set up the video camera to document the event and started rolling.

Put the gas in the tank, connected up the battery. Then I turned the petcock to PRI.

Fuel gushed down the hose to the waiting carbs, and……………… fuel p!ssed out all over the engine. I can't believe I overlooked T-hose connector - it's fracked!!!!!

I thought I had replaced everything I needed to - wrong again!

The replacement parts will take few days to get here so I'll have another go next weekend.

The rear cowl is still at the paint shop but will be on there soon.

Got the new fuel rail pieces from Z1. Well made parts - fit perfectly. I switched out the o-rings for the ones which came with the kit from Mr Barr.

I fired her up and found 1 & 2 weren't running. No gas.
Took the carbs off and checked the float height, yep they were wrong. I put the floats on upside down!

Anyway, put it all back together and we're running on all four. A bit rough but I haven't tuned the jets or balanced the vacuum. I'm on that this week.

LoL... look everyone another one joins us in the "I keep having senior moments" Club. Man I feel your pain I will get everything put together step back to smile at my work then I start cussing and fussing because sure enough I forgot to put that part back on and now I have to dismantle everything because that is what has to be done to get that part on. I say this very generally because it has not happened to me just once or twice, seems to be a recurring them...lol.

Good looking bike glad to see the Mrs. gets out and gives you a hand.

Ain't it the truth. You'd think the more you messed with this stuff the better you'd remember how it goes back together. Alas no, more often than not there's a (small) part which is left off, it's just a question of how far along do you get before seeing it or realizing it's missing!

Two thumbs up on the Mrs.

Very nice work, I just went through your thread, seems you have had some ups and downs, but over all a very smooth rebuild.

Keep at it, your so close to the finish line.....

              Cheers

Cheers Gatekeeper, this winter's been so pleasant I've brought my plans forward a bit and I expect to be on her within a week or two.

I took a look at your MASSIVE build thread - spent about an hour on it and only brushed the surface. Long way to go but looking great!

                  Nearly there.

                  I think I'm done!

Got to go get a state inspection and then it's plug chops, I'm expecting a bit of frustration there.

Took me just about a year and way too many $$.........I got a bit carried away.

Then it's time to meet a few GSR's in person!

                    Two steps forward one back

Spent a couple of hours doing plug chops - tedious, made more so when I realized I had been turning the fuel screw the wrong way enriching the mixture.

Spent another hour+ the next day and ran out of adjustment - still running rich. Seems the K&N recommendation to up the bleeder one size is too much for my bike. Of course, then I read a couple of threads in which TCK & HH recommend staying with the stock bleeder. DOH!

very well done! I see you put on some rearsets. Are those Raask or Tarrozi?
Good choice on the color I'd say

Thanks Flyboy. That year went by fast and I loved every minute of it.
