Aaaah I feel ya pain on that one! One flouro which is in the wrong place, so I have two desktop lamps pointed at the workbench, and two cars in the garage so I get about 10 - 20% of the space which includes storing the 450...

Never mind, you'll have her back together in no time

I got some moly lube to chuck on the cam lobes (as per the Clymer), and I just used my fingers as ring compressors.

I think the main need for the ring compressors is on the fours as there's too many to cope with, whereas on the twin there's only one up and one down...

            Got a torque wrench?

Ok the barrel is on, didnt need to compress the rings at all as the barrel is tapered at the bottom and they slide straight in.

Got the head half apart now to lap in the valves as they were rather dirty and the build up of soot was actually caked onto where the valve meets the head so a lapping in can only be a good thing.

I've got new valve stem oil seals and all i need now is some valve grinding paste unless there are any alternatives? I've heard some people use autosol to do it if the valves dont need much work?....

On a downside though, the postman just went straight past us again.... so gotta wait till next week for my tap.

I had my valves faced, then used Holts fine water mixed grinding compount to lap them in. Was a very quick and simple process to do with the lapping tool and I did a leak down test using kero which showed them all sealing perfectly.

Just remember your valves will be way out of adjustment after lapping.

Stuff that indeed! I gotta get it done soon... need a riding fix like you wouldn't believe!

I'm thinking I might find a refresher course so I can at least get some riding time in before it's finished... Morgan and Wacker do one $50 an hour minimum 2 hours and they provide a bike in that cost too, could be the way to go.
