Ok i'm having some problems setting the timing on the bike, i have timing marks like this,

R T | and L T | and then the tab that sticks out, but not sure which way to set them?..... Some pictures contradict one another and i dont want to fire it up how it is.

Its together and now running with the new tap, First kick over it fired straight up, sounds different though sounds abit deeper in the exhaust note. Will take it for a run in the morning and see how she goes!!

Well i found the problem... One of the nuts that go on the valve adjusters has come clean off, luckily the adjuster itself was still in the hole but only just!

I dont know if i have overlooked it when i did the valves as i cant see the nut stripping, I'll have to dump the new oil and try a magnet in the sump plug hole or at worst drop the sump.... DOH!

Well i pulled the sump off ( what a messy bloody job that is! ) But no nut to be found, i searched around for abit with my magnet but couldnt find anything, i'd say in the rush to get it going i've put the nut down to do something else and forgotten about it.. which is abit odd because i'm sure i double checked they were all there and tight...

Anyway are they a special type of nut? Or just a high tensile?

Not sure on the nut but... wow what a PITA! Are you sure it's still not floating around in there at all? That would scare the bejesus out of me if I didn't know where it was...

i searched from the top and bottom and cant find it, the last thing i want is it coming loose from inside the engine and locking the whole thing up doing 80kph, i am not pulling the whole thing apart to find it, i remember that i had taken the nuts off to turn the tappet as it made it easier, if i put the nut on i would of wound it down a fair distance so as it didnt come off and fall into the engine, i only rode it probably 1.5km and i dunno if that would be enough to unwind the nut, if anything it would of unwound the whole nut and tappet as one.... i think i've left it off by mistake... i would say the nuts are high tensile will try and get one tomorrow.

Cool, let's hope you're right! High tensile would probably be right given what it is... will be nice to see it all done and dusted again

the whole bike looks like complete crap at the moment, side covers are hanging up from when i painted them about 2 months ago, the engine looks crap and needs a paint and so does the frame, abit sad looking.
