Cool, let us know. At least this time so far it's only the valve cover... and possibly the tank

Chain checks out, tensioner has been cleaned up and oiled so its fine, exhaust bolts were checked too, still getting the noise it sounds like its coming from the front of the motor to me using the big arse screw driver to the ear method and still getting faster with revs but once i hit about 1500rpm the noise fades. Best place to hear the noise is by putting my ear to the fuel tank.

It is more of a Tick Tick Tick noise, now that i have had a chance to put my ear to it.

So... what could of been damaged in the lock up? Could the oil pump of copped some damage? The bike is still getting oil pressure and oil in the top end.

Sound disapears when coming back to idle.

Tacho drive maybe? Just thinking what's at the front, and that's at the front... oil pump is down the right side behind the clutch if it's like the 450, so nowhere near there.

You say the exhaust bolts are ok, but are the exhaust gaskets ok? Could one of those be knackered after you had the head off and now developing a bit of a leak?

Nah the exhaust gaskets are new too, tacho drive is fine i checked that as well, could it be a spun bearing?...

I think they make a knocking sound, but no way would I rely on my diagnosis for that! I just recall reading that on here...

Don't suppose you could get a video up? That may make it a bit easier...

Nah not yet, all it needs is some paint and some rubber edging, but i might have to modify it as i lowered the headlight and gauges

i feel i should change the name of this thread to ' never ending story ' but i might get in trouble with copyright...

Bike is running and i gotta say its hauling arse! 70kph in 3rd and still pulling hard, its got some carb issues now when accelerating hard it will pop which i'm assuming is it running lean?

After work today i got bored so threw the side cover that i painted on my buffer and its like a mirror now, very happy with the shine and reflection but not happy with my paint skills, shame to put another colour over it.

My DIY headlight fairing needs some trimming, then i'll start painting it but what colour?..........

Mate I know the feeling! Mine is also feeling like the never ending story, although to be more accurate at the moment it's probably the never starting story

Hopefully that'll change in two days...

Great to hear she's running well, and yeah it sounds right that popping would be lean, but probably best to get into the plug chops to see for sure.

As to the painting and colour? I still like the black with the white stripe... but it's your bike!
