Wow, way cool bike- never seen one! Best thing weve found for cleaning carbs is a sonic cleaner.

thanks motobike5000 yeah they didnt get the GSX250 in the USA from what i have found out, they got it in Canada though.

okay carbs are back together and on the bike, the cleaner did get alot of gunk out of the body and the outside is alot cleaner but they dont sparkle but i am really happy with the insides of the carbs

        and guess what.............

        SAME PROBLEM!

I'm going to try some aftermarket hose clamps on the intake rubbers and see if that makes any difference but no auto shops are open here today and i refuse to buy anything from repco.

Is your girlfriend doing ok Josh?

Glad to hear the cleaner did something to the carbs, but bugger on the same problem!!

I seriously think you need a good plug chop at that point though... see if it's fueling or not.

And why not Repco? I'm not a huge fan of either Supercheap or Repco but there's not much choice...

i've done a plug chop on it last week and it was running lean, i've got pics but they are only phone pics. When putting the carbs on today i had abit of a jiggle with the airbox and the carbs were moving slightly, the hose clamps on the carbs are done up till they wont go any tighter but both sides of the hose clamp are touching one another in the middle, so i think they have stretched which is why i want to try some aftermarket hose clamps to see if it makes a difference.

Could explain why at idle when i spray the carbs with fluid the revs dont change but when its going at speed with afew rpms and is sucking hard air is getting past the factory clamps. I hate bikes... lol

Amanda is okay, i nodded off afew times today i was buggered from staying up all night, its our anniversary on tuesday and also her birthday so gotta get afew things tomorrow but i'm sure i can nip into the local parts store too hehe

Repco are just rip off's, i use our local privately owned parts store which is a 10 minute walk up the road, they know me by name and i get better than trade price so its all good.

Ok cool, they could be like my old boots too. They shrunk so the outside diameter wasn't quite enough to clamp properly but the inside diameter was too large to seal properly.

And don't lie, you love bikes

Glad to hear she's doing ok and I hope she's all better in time for Tuesday

I get ya', and yeah we've got a local privately owned one which is good too but is the opposite direction to where I usually need to go which is why I usually end up at Supercrap...

Put some new hose clamps on it and it made all the difference! Only put them on the manifold side at this stage as the airbox side has a large lip on it which wont suit these hose clamps so i might go to pods?

                Comment

I would be easier to find hose clamps to suit rather than a rejet for pods, i think?
I hope you have the problem sorted!

Good news! Glad to hear it

I've done lots of looking at what I need to do for my pods, and seeing as you're already sick of doing your carbs... I reckon listen to Landshark

Well, looks like the new inlet manifolds are going to have to come sooner than i thought! The new hose clamps have pulled the rubber away from where the manifold bolts to the engine. So instead of riding the bike to Sydney to stay for 3 days i had to train it and borrow a car, which is a bugger because i was looking forward to giving it a good run!

I'm also going to take your advice and use the stock airbox setup, i'm going to replace the outlet rubbers as they are only $9 each US plus the springs and clamps for them.

When i was doing the troubleshooting on my GSX i got a thin but long zip tie and looped it around the section of the boot that goes under the clamp to provide a larger cross-section, and although it didn't really fix my problem, it helped the process of elimination somewhat.

Yeah mike i was looking for something to do just that but i didnt have any zip ties etc, the 2 new hose clamps on the outlet rubbers made it run really well until a inlet manifold rubber split while riding, the bike was still running but its about 100km ride down to sydney and i wasnt risking it because knowing my luck with this bike i would make it 50km and then it would die in the butt lol

That's a bugger to hear but at least now you know the source of your problems.

If you can sort them out then you should be laughin'
