Well after a LOOOOOOONG winter's sleep I finally got a bit of a ride today.A left turn signal issue (loose wire) so I cut it short.Once I got that sorted it was time to get the timing light on it.With a bit of twitting I got a strong strobe. The advance works to.Man it's a strong bike now that it all works

After more than a few hassles with Dynatek then FedEx we finally got the out of warranty unit.Installed it today and it works great with the "new" coils I got, bypassed the stock wires and put the new coil wires into a bundle with the new horn wires I've run.All looks way neater now and it (finally) runs on all 4 cylindersI'll finally get to ride it after the morning frosts that bit me in the azz with the 750 go away. Now that it seems to be running good I can get to some fine tuning of the carbs

On this side of the planet where the population is sparse, the chance of finding an OEM exhaust in any condition is even more so. I really wanted to get a 4 into 2 system that resembled the OEM (by squinting a bit). I got creative and mated a new set of MAC 4 into 2 headers to a new pair of Dunstall reverse cone mufflers. I was careful to choose the correct length muffler that finished near the back of the rear tyre, as per the originals. I got a local auto muffler shop to make up a couple of short adapters then got them chromeplated.

I hope that gives you something to consider before you dispose of the Dunstalls.
Who's ditching the Dunstalls? Not me.The MARTEK ignition system is giving me grief. The few times it was running really good there was no muffler problems I could perceive.Good stock systems are hard to find here to which is why I'm REALLY glad I didn't sell them.

Went though the carbs when I had to have my wife come with the pickup because the bike lost power.Fixed a few issues but it will still barely run.Thinking it might be the old Martek so I pulled that and here's the thread http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ded&highlight= .Since I want to get her running http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...000&highlight= .
On the brighter side my rear MC was leaking and giving me a long pedal so I got an OEM kit for it.While it was out I zinc plated all the hardware http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ing&highlight=

Looks good and I now have a rear brake on a bike that doesn't run right

Well I got her out again today(finally),till running not up to what I think a 1000 should. It was surging a bit like it wanted to go better.I was stoging around headed home contemplating pulling the carbs when I though "Lets try that".Popped into first and whacked open the throttle, didn't want to do more than 7000ish then all of a sudden it went up to the redline.Guess there was a bit of a blockage in one carb as all it did is get better after the "Italian tuneup"

This bike doesn't get out as much as my daily rider 85 GS750 so I'm still on a learning curve with it.After may years of running either CV carbs or EFI it's a bit different using the VM manual slide cabs. The enricher seems somehow counter intuitive to me. Always seen to be moving it the wrong way :Got to get it out more!

Went out for a bit longer run today, there are now 165 km's on the clocks that where zeroed when I got them. This is at the Patricia (Pat) Bay seaplane base.About as far as you can get from Sooke and still be in the Victoria area.Ran quite nice but needed some torque wrench TLC that it got when I got home.

Huh?What was that?Sorry I was busy staring at my picsThe paint work isn't to the meticulous painter standards but I'm getting better,I think.
I another note I got a crash bar for it from a member here who thought it was for a 1000 chain drive.Well it don't fit mine,by enough it can't be wiggled around to fit.Of course I found this out after having a friend weld in filler for some rash on it.Then sand blasting the chrome and powder coating it.

Got a stand pipe for the original petcock from Steve Murdoch.Put it in ASAP before I lost the thing again!Really happy I got it in to because the 83 750 petcock didn't really work.Such a little thing makes a huge difference .Thank you to Steve to!Those cheap "moose antler"mirrors are gone to,the mirror on the right side decided to part company with it's housing early on my first ride.Had a set of OEM hanging around with rusty heads, wire brushed them off and painted them as a for now till I get these http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-Pair-Univer...-/151513985533

Well it seems when I got the new spark plug caps I put them on like I thought they'd be instead of checking the manual to see how they should beNow that thy're on the right leads it runs way better, who uh thunkThen out of the blue #4 starts gushing gas, lots of it.the it quit, think there was something between the new float needle and seat. Now that it runs better there's a new problem. It idles at 1800 RPM with lots of slack in the throttle cable and the adjuster backed right off.Looks like I have to pull the carbs to do a bench adjust like I should have to begin with
